It’s not by chance that Emiliano Falsini produces authentic and soulful wines. After studying enology at the University of Bordeaux, Emiliano developed his craft in California, Argentina, and New Zealand before consulting on wine production at various esteemed wineries in Italy, including Giacomo Fennochio (Barolo) and Graci (Etna). Over the years, he developed a deep appreciation for Etna and its terroir, and couldn’t pass up owning vines of his own when Feudo Pignatone in Randazzo became available.
Situated at 700 m on the northern flank of the Volcano, part of Feudo Pignatone is endowed with centenarian vines. This portion of the vineyard is vinified separately as ‘Davanti Casa’ and shows Nerello Mascalese’s simulaneously intriguing and inherent dialogue with both Pinot Noir and Nebbiolo. Falsini makes a very small production on Etna and with utmost care. He explains this drive as a conviction that comes from producing from highly-reputed terroirs that are planted to noble varieties. These days, he also makes wine on the Tuscan Coast in Bolgheri and in Sardinia.
